The Love Pentagon
by Dave D. (22, M, Detroit , MI)

"A few years back I was working on an afternoon shift. I got out of work at 11:00pm and went to Denny's for a few hours with my friends most nights. One night we were all sitting around as normal and a girl walks up to me gives me her number and walks out. That kind of stuff never happens to me so I figured it was some type of set up and she was going to stand me up or something if I called her. I decided not to get my hopes up and called her to invite her to a bonfire my buddy has every week. This way if she doesn't show up it's not a big deal I'm still with my friends. She ended up coming with a friend and we all had a good time.

Then she asked me if I wanted to go to a club next week and knowing it wasn't a set up said sure. The night started out with me driving an hour to her house to pick her up. Her friend also came with us. Once I got them we had a 2 hour drive to the club. We get there and I find out she isn't even 21 so we have to sneak her in. Once inside her friend who lives with her boyfriend seams to be into me more than she is but being a good guy I continue to turn her down. On the ride home she tells me that she just moved back from Las Vegas where she has a boyfriend. Again I'm a good guy and don’t want to be "that guy". She told me its OK that she is cheating on him because he is married. Also his wife is going to be gone for a month in the summer and she is going to visit him to party then break up with him before she comes back. I felt like I was on Jerry Springer. Two girls like me, both with boyfriends, and one is married. I told her I didn’t feel right about all of this and maybe she should just call me when she gets back. I got a call a few months later she asks me what I'm doing and I tell her "hanging out with my buddy" she then calls me a jerk and hangs up. To this day I have no idea why that was the wrong response. Oh well I didn’t want to be in a love pentagon anyway."
