He Threw His Wallet at the AMC Lady by Ashley R. (18, F, Riverside, CA) "When I was in High School there was this guy named Jacob who would sort of hang out with my friends and I in the morning before school. I say "sort of" because no one invited him and he would sit at the end of the planter (not exactly part of us, but not away from us either) and would read the newspaper. Every now and then he would make some random comment that had nothing to do with the conversation and didn't seem to be directed at anyone either. We ignored him for a while until my mom decided to volunteer at the schools library. Jacob would go there every day and work on charming my mother. Finally he did it..... he asked her to ask me out for him!!! My mom started her plan of attack immediately-nagging me, talking him up, saying it would be great if I went out with a nice guy for a change. I finally cracked and agreed to a pity date. He took me to the movies and we were going to see an R film. I was 18 and didn't realize he was 17 until we got carded. Jacob flipped out! His face turned beat red and he started screaming at the saleslady. He threatened her with legal action insisting his brother was a lawyer and said he was going to call the cops and have her arrested (for what I'll never know). Meanwhile a crowd was gathering, all staring at the crazy man who wouldn't stop screaming and his date who was trying to pull him away. He took out his wallet and threw it at the AMC partition, and the saleslady immediately got on the phone. I pulled him away and insisted I had a headache and had to go home. We drove him in silence and I practically jumped out of the car as he said "We should do this again sometime." I slammed the door and pretty much ignored him for the rest of the year."
