"So I'd been dating this guy for a couple months. It was just OK (he was a little intense and a lot dull), but I'd been in college and really busy, so a not-too-serious situation was AOK by me. Anyway, we go out to lunch, and he decides to break up with me in the middle of it.
Now, my "sort-of boyfriend" was no Shakespeare - he'd dropped out of community college after a semester and had never been much for deep conversation - but this break-up lunch was something else. He stumbled and stammered to explain how he "didn't want to be into me if I wasn't looking for true love" and "someday I would find love", and other cliches and stuff that might have been more meaningful had we not only been dating for eight weeks. After while, he basically just started quoting break-up song lyrics to me. I'm pretty sure I heard at least a line or two quoted verbatim from Chris Brown's "There's Never a Right Time To Say Goodbye".
And so went my most unoriginal dumping ever. But hey, I guess if you can't find the words to say it yourself, just defer to the masters!"
